Michael Bay Trashes Megan Fox, Talks 'Transformers 3' and 3D

Seems like a small war is starting to brew between Michael Bay and Megan Fox, after the latter said some unflattering things about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, telling the Early Show recently that she still doesn't understand the movie and that it's apparently made for geniuses. Bay, of course, is not one to take criticism lightly -- especially from some girl who was nobody until he dropped her into the first Transformers movie.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal about the situation with Fox, he says, "Well, that's Megan Fox for you. She says some very ridiculous things because she's 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, "Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it." But I 100% disagree with her. Nick Cage wasn't a big actor when I cast him, nor was Ben Affleck before I put him in "Armageddon." Shia LaBeouf wasn't a big movie star before he did "Transformers"-and then he exploded. Not to mention Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, from "Bad Boys." Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in "Transformers." I like to think that I've had some luck in building actors' careers with my films."
We shouldn't worry whether this war of words will hurt either person's involvement in a third Transformers movie because according to Bay that's not happening anytime soon. On a third Transformers film, he says, "I just want to take some time off. It's been almost three years that I've devoted myself entirely to this world of robots. At some point, enough is enough-and I literally carried this movie on my back. ... I don't know who [would] want to take on my shoes with this franchise. We might just take a year down."
Okay, that's swell ... so what is Bay going to do in the meantime. Recently he came on as producer for the big-screen adaptation I Am Number Four, based on an upcoming series of books about teenage aliens hiding on earth while being hunted by other aliens who destroyed their home planet. At the time it was thought to be a potential directing gig for Bay, but according to these comments, it doesn't sound like he'll be taking that on next. "I've been talking to some big actors right now about something that is totally different. A small dark comedy, a true story, with actors just acting, no effects. I'm done with effects movies for now. When you do a movie like "Transformers," it can feel like you're doing three movies at once-which is tiring."
And so when he finally does get around to Transformers 3, will it be in 3D? On the hot, up-and-coming technology, he says, "I prefer the flat screen. I'm not jumping to do 3-D at all-it's a pain in the neck to shoot it and I actually like the flat image. I've heard that some people can't even see 3-D and, moreover, that a major side effect of watching it is feeling exhausted. Can you imagine how you'd feel watching one of my movies in 3-D?"
Read the rest over at the Wall Street Journal online.

Wow, that is some massive ego Bay has. He made Nicholas Cage, Will Smith, and Ben Affleck's careers? I think not. I'd even argue that Transformers had little to do with LeBeouf's career exploding - he was already cast in the 2008 movies (Indiana Jones, Eagle Eye) before Transformers came out.

He really should be careful though part of the reason alot of people actually saw transformers was because of Fox.

actually Will was famous after Independence Day... but didnt EXPLODE onto the big screen until Bad Boys... and on Michael Bay's defense... I think he's right. She needs to keep her mouth shut and shirt open if she wants to keep getting these movie deals or end up like that girl...that I've forgotten the name of on Grey's Anatomy... SEE?? CANT EVEN REMEMBER HER NAME!

He said they were CAST in those movies. You do realize casting comes before the movie is released, correct?

LaBeouf's big breakthrough came months before Transformers with Disturbia which spent three weeks at number one. Affleck's biggest career move came before Armageddon while Independence Day and Men in Black made Smith. Although he could somewhat claim them he really crosses the line with Nicolas Cage. I mean claiming that you made Nicolas Cage has some balls. He had already won the Oscar for Best Actor for Leaving Las Vegas, co-starred in Best Picture nominee Moonstruck, and got co-billing with Shirley MacLaine. Did I mention he is a fucking Coppola? Yeah Bay, you really made Nicolas Cage, the nobody, into a star. I'm pretty sure that Bay is more expendable than Fox in the Transformers films.

His Will Smith and Nick Cage comments are ridiculous. Nick Cage and Smith had been very famous since the 80's! Ben Affleck had already won an academy award by the time he made Armageddon and Pearl Harbor. Mr. Bay is a bit off base with those comments. Shia was being groomed by Spielberg and company and that's why Bay cast him.
What's interesting is that Mega Fox's comments I agree with.

You really agree that only a genius could understand Transformers? Really? Then my six year old is on his way! What did she not understand?

staciep, she was being sarcastic, & her comments were dead on. T2 was one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time 100% due to direction. However, if I were a child or had a simpler mind, I would probably have enjoyed it. Which is basically what she said in a much simpler and funnier way.
There were too many stories going on at once that simultaneously weren't explored at all. The editing was atrocious, it could have been a decent movie if cut down to a 2 hour max.

You guys are forgetting about Even Stevens, Holes, The Greatest Game Ever Played, Constantine, and Bobby.
Rapping made Will Smith. Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air exploded him.

It's interesting that he mentions Nic Cage and Ben Affleck; both of them won Oscars before The Rock and Armageddon, and neither have won any since.

From what I've heard and read (I won't pretend I gave my precious mulah to see the movie), it seems that it would even be confusing for geniuses. I'm glad she said exactly what she meant instead of pretending that it had a wonderful plot, etc. It's not like her comment can hurt the film financially.
Michael Bay's just an ass. He can't get all uppity on her about his reputation, his first movie was "Playboy Video Centerfold" for godsakes.

And the winner in this lame debate is Megan Fox. Nobody cared about the All Spark in the first movie and nobody cares about the so-called plot (which I heard is non-existant in the second movie) in this movie. I maks me laugh when I see how passionately Bay defends this movie like it was a member of his family. At least Megan Fox is realistic about her role in it. Always saying look I'm a cute girl who runs in tight shirts alongside Shia Lebeouf. If Bay wants Megan Fox to shut up, here's an idea for the third "Transformers" (I'm not even thinking about a third one, ha! yeah right) Give Fox more to do then just run around in tight shirts alongside Shia Lebeouf." And Bay Will Smith already had his television show and rap carrer, Ben Affleck was in good movies before you cast him in your stupid movie. And Nic Cage is a good actor doing a dumb Micheal Bay film, little more then that.

Megan Fox wins. She wants to be more then just the girl that looks good and runs from robots. Bay will never use her for anything else he objectifies her just like a females in his films.

Looking good is Megan Fox's only talent. She can't act, only model.
